The latest Reuters headline today for you global warmers:
“Earth’s protective ozone layer, which was notably thinning in 1980, may be fully recovered by mid-century, climate scientists said on Wednesday.
Ozone in the stratosphere, outside the polar regions, stopped thinning in 1997, the scientists found after analyzing 25 years worth of observations.” Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve only recently become aware of N.T. Wright who apparently is an Anglician Bishop who has not only redefined the meaning of ‘Justification’ but has also redefined the meaning of virtually the entire Bible. Here is a quote of his Read the rest of this entry »

Many Emergent theologians hold to a relatively new belief system that says that Jesus Christ returned in A.D. 70 when Jerusalem was destroyed, and established His kingdom on earth at that time. As I understand it, they see this present age as the ‘new age’ if you will, that is ushering in Christ’s kingdom here on earth. Thus, they are deeply commited to saving the planet and ending human suffering on the earth. This belief has eliminated the need for personal salvation in many minds, because it’s all about the kingdom as a place as much as a group of people. This new belief would explain why some ‘evangelical’ Christians are jumping on the global warming bandwagon and viewing unbelievers as better able to solve the world’s problems. I ran across a paper online written by Stafford North of Oklahoma Christian University that refutes this belief very eloquently; it’s several pages long but worth the read. http://www.oc.edu/faculty/stafford.north/70AD.html

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England’s Prime Minister Tony Blair’s words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America, he said: “A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in … and how many want out.” Read the rest of this entry »

Christ, He requires still, wheresoe’er He comes,To feed, or lodge, to have the best of rooms; Give Him the choice; grant Him the nobler part Of all the house: the best of all’s the heart.

Milton Friedman was interviewed last month (July 2006) by Imprimis Magazine on his economic views and if they have changed over the years since he and his wife wrote the book, “Free To Choose” in 1980. He is an old guy, even by my standards, and is very wise. Just a quote to peak your interest; Larry Arnn asks “In “Free To Choose”, in the chapter on “The Tyrrany of Controls,” you argue that protectionism and government intervention in general breed conflict and that free markets breed cooperation. How do you reconcile this statement with the fact that we think of free markets as being competitive?”
You can read the whole interview at http://www.hillsdale.edu/imprimis/2006/07/ Mr. Friedman has some very interesting insights.
