If the United States form of government; which is a ‘Representative Republic’; is so bad, what kind of government should a Christian support? I have some thoughts on this and would like to know what other Christians think.

Yesterday the World Wildlife Fund made the latest ‘Chicken Little’ statement that by the year 2050 it will take two or three planet earths to satisfy the gross appetite of the American consumer. Give me a break. People aren’t as stupid as they think.
The Evangelical Climate Initiative has had a hard time getting any traction with real Christians and I think I know why. Read the rest of this entry »

Dawla is from Yemen, is Muslim celebrating Ramadan, wears traditional headcovering and plays clarinet in my begining 5th grade band. Monday, the band led a parade of the entire school around the little town. Dawla was deeply disappointed that she must miss out on her first marching band experience because Monday was the last and most important day of Ramadan. She marched in practice last Friday and gave it her all. She said a sad goodby and we told her we would miss her. Monday morning when I arrived at the school, the band members were already warming up and there was Dawla! She ran over and threw her arms around me, jumping up and down with excitement and shouting, “I’m here, I’m here.” - I have no idea what changed at home to allow her to come to school and I didn’t ask. I’m just glad she was there. 5th grade band rocks!

The snowstorm that brought 2 feet of unexpected early snow to New York State a couple of days ago got a whopping zero commentary from the global warming crowd. Why are they so loud if we have a heat wave and strangely silent when there is a cold snap? It’s politics as usual with them I guess. If it doesn’t fit your agenda, don’t bother dealing with the truth.

Sometimes you have to write what’s in your heart. I just got home from the most unsusal baby shower I’ve ever attended. David Christian arrived six weeks ago - his only sibling, Dan Philip drowned at the age of 9 about 18 months ago. What a joy to be there with his happy mother. She is having to grieve for one while she rejoices in the other. The group of women who were there was comprised of those who have walked this veil of tears with her. Why did they walk?
